My teaching is informed by my research and vice-versa, but I also recognize the importance of developing my teaching skills. During my time at the Free University of Berlin, I completed 220 total hours of seminars to obtain the Hochschuldidaktisches Zertifikat (Certificate of Higher Education Teaching). Obtaining this certification required attending the following seminars offered in the German language:

• Lehre gender- und diverstitätsbewusst gestalten
• Forschendes Lernen
• Lernen vertiefen, Aktivität fördern – das Potenzial des Schreibens in Lehrveranstaltungen nutzen
• Viel Text – wenig Abwechslung. Die Arbeit mit wissenschaftlichen Texten im (online) Seminar
• Das Lehrportfolio: Wie dokumentiere ich meine Lehrkompetenz?
• Stimm- und Sprechtraining
• Mit Micro-Teaching die Lehre verbessern

Additionally, as part of the certification program’s requirement to carry out an experimental teaching project, I carried out a project titled “„Digitale Archive und praktische Hinweise für die Archivforschung in die Lehre einbetten“ (Digital Archives and Practical Tips for Embedding Archival Research Into Teaching) within the context of my 2021 summer semester course “Racism in International Relations.” This project involved incorporating the papers of African-American intellectual W.E.B. DuBois into the course and requiring that final papers engage with DuBois’ archive.
